Ask Tennant About Hard Floor Care

Q: My floor needs to be scrubbed several times a day. What can I do to prevent slip-and-fall accidents?

A: We recently worked with the Oswego Public School District in Oswego, Ill., which has 13 buildings and 1.7 million square feet / 158,000 m2 of floors to maintain. The district tried our FaST Foam Scrubbing Technology®, and for the first time, they were able to safely clean floors during school hours. When using FaST, there were no concerns about students or faculty slipping and falling because the floors were safe to walk on immediately after cleaning. Additionally, FaST improved custodial staff’s productivity. Detergent is pre-mixed in an easy-to-use cartridge, so it’s a snap for custodians to simply attach it to the scrubber, and the efficient cleaning solution uses less water for fewer empty/fill cycles.

Q: After my floor is scrubbed I have to wait for hours before it’s dry. Is there anything I can do to speed up the drying time so I can get back to business-as-usual?

A: The Lahey Clinic in Boston, widely considered one of the elite healthcare facilities in the Northeast, is a great example of how efficient cleaning leaves more time for business-as-usual. We worked with the clinic’s building service contractor, Sodexho, who wanted to increase productivity and safety at the approximately 900,000-square-foot / 83,700 m2 clinic that accommodates 3,000 patients a day. Sodexho purchased our 5680 automatic scrubber with FaST Foam Scrubbing Technology®. FaST is a patented cleaning process that injects air into a water and detergent mixture to create a foam cleansing agent. Using less water and less detergent, FaST leaves just-scrubbed floors immediately dry and safe. It also increases productivity by 30 percent by reducing by 70 percent the number of empty-fill cycles per use. Sodexho now has a safer, easier, and more efficient cleaning program at Lahey Clinic.
